Position Description

The successful candidate will be assigned to the Technical Assurance (TA) Group for the U.S. Division of Our Client.  The TA group is responsible for technical support and services for all assets in the division.  These prospects are located in offshore Gulf of Mexico in both deepwater and shallow environments.  The TA group is a cross-functional group of geoscientists and reservoir engineers, having principal functions which include supporting our exploration, appraisal and development programs.  This assignment is a great opportunity to contribute to several new and evolving field projects and work on interesting deepwater reservoirs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites
  • Utilize expertise in conducting state-of-the-art black-oil and compositional reservoir simulation studies using ECLIPSE simulator.
  • Utilize expertise in working with subsurface teams charged with the responsibility for developing dynamic and static reservoir models by integrating data from various technical disciplines (G&G, production, reservoir, facilities, and related technical disciplines).
  • Build, run and calibrate simulation models to determine probabilistic assessment of recovery of deepwater reservoirs in Gulf of Mexico.
  • Develop reservoir simulation models that accurately reflect all the available geological and reservoir engineering data and provide a production forecasting plan for the asset.
  • Use probabilistic techniques, such as experimental designs, to generate production profiles and recovery factors.
  • Develop strong working relationships with multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Assess various development strategies jointly with project teams to formulate recommendations to management in order to optimize the value of the assets.
  • Present to project team members and management proposed depletion plan based on reservoir simulation studies.
  • Maintain history matched reservoir simulation models for use in short-term forecasting and longer term strategic planning, including locating future wells and optimizing development for potential EOR opportunities.
  • Represent Our Client in meetings and interactions with working interest partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Petroleum Engineering, is Required
  • At least 3 years of directly related experience using ECLIPSE or VIP.
  • Having a diverse petroleum engineering background, along with reservoir simulation experience, including experimental design probabilistic forecasting techniques, is essential.
  • Must Have a solid understanding of project management concepts including developing objectives and work plans for a team, along with necessary project management skills to meet the project deadlines and deliver quality presentations and reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with diverse functional groups, along with the ability to build team consensus and ownership in interpretations, is Required.
  • Prior deepwater experience is a Plus.

 

Other Skills:

Demonstrated proficiency in technical software packages such as economic modeling and decision tree, reserves management and pressure transient analysis.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
