Client

My client, who has been in business for nearly 50 years, is a privately owned business in Texarkana and currently has sixteen locations serving customers in sixteen states with approximately 600 employees with revenue nearing $400 million. My client services two distinct markets, Professional and Retail. The Professional Market is comprised of Horticultural (commercial greenhouse growers and woody ornamental growers) and Professional Turf (golf courses, sports fields, landscapers, governments, and municipalities). The Retail Market is comprised of Retailers (independent retail garden centers, regional chains, and mass merchants) and Farm & Hardware (farmers co-ops, independently owned feed and farm supply stores, farm seed stores, and hardware stores, both independents and chains). This is a “family” grown and developed business and in having worked with them over the past several years I know them to be very honest and ethical in their dealings with their customers and employees.   • Management of 3 purchasing agents plus supporting clerical staff
  • Management of associated warehouse inventories
  • Selected key account contact
  • Sales staff training
  • Key manufacturer/category contact
  • New product selection
  • Multiple industry associational contact
  • Develop sales programs for field sales staff
  • Management of large vendor sponsored marketing pool
  • Marketing liaison to Information Systems department
  • Planning and execution of company wide product knowledge and personal development event
  • Develop customer educational events including seminars, speakers and continuing education units

Education & Experience

  • Travel typically @ 60 nights per year
  • Must have command of all Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to interact within a broad range of contact profiles
  • Ability to represent company professionally
  • Ability to interact with all departments
  • Knowledge of AS400 operating systems
  • Prior management experience
  • 4-year degree in sales or marketing or related field of study
