Candidate Selection Phase

Prospective Candidate Interviews

Following an initial telephone interview, additional assessments are made to determine which candidates should be considered further. In a retained search, the selected candidates are interviewed face to face by North American. In an exclusive contingency search, if the client approves, a representative of North American will travel to conduct an extensive personal interview with the selected candidates, or will bring each selected candidate in for the face to face meeting. In some instances, videoconferencing may eliminate the need for travel. When the search is exclusive contingency, extensive phone interviews are conducted to determine, according to the client's criteria, which candidates should be presented to the client company. Only when the client gives North American permission is their identity revealed.

Reference Checking

North American will provide an initial screening of references when the client it is interested in proceeding with certain candidates. Once the candidate proceeds through another round, but prior to an offer's being extended, an extensive reference check will be provided to the client. In some cases, the client may wish to conduct the initial and/or final reference checks themselves. In all retained search efforts, North American will screen the references for the client.

Client Candidate Presentation

Based upon information and recommendations provided by North American, the client determines which of the candidates they desire to interview. Following each interview with each candidate, North American obtains feedback from the client as to whether the candidate remains in active consideration, and how the client wishes to proceed. If the client decides to eliminate a candidate, the client is queried as to the reasoning so North American can provide appropriate feedback to the candidate. If at any point the candidate withdraws him or herself from consideration, they too are debriefed by North American and the client is fully informed.
