Client Overview

Our Client is an independent distributor for MTU, Detroit Diesel, Allison Transmission, Carrier Transport Refrigeration, and other leading industrial brands.  They have excelled at providing solutions and adding value for their customers for over 50 years. Service excellence is a critical part of their value proposition. They are currently looking for a Regional Vice President to help them maintain their leadership position.  The position is responsible for sales and operations in their Western Region currently domiciled in Southern Montana.  This Regional VP position is available due to a pending retirement.

Position Summary

The Regional Vice President is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Our Client’s PowerSystem’s branches within a given territory.  A Territory consists of various dedicated branches of PowerSystems, and IndustrialSystems.  This position is part of the operations leadership team and is responsible for supporting Our Client’s Companies’ strategic initiatives, developing strong relationships with their valued partners, driving exceptional performance, and establishing a culture of continuous improvements.  This key leader position will drive organizational change and development for the western region.

The total sales budget for the West Region where this Regional VP will have responsibility is approximately $72,800,000.00 with expectations for 2018 to be $86,000,000.00.

This role will report to the President of Our Client.


  • Ensure Our Client’s Guiding Principles of Pride in Service and creating customer satisfaction are evident in all of the business unit’s operations and KPI’s.

  • Deliver profitable operating results.  Collaborate with other operations leaders to create and implement operating practices that leverage all of Our Client’s capabilities and resources.

  • Build and maintain a strong team by attracting, developing and retaining industry-leading talent.  Must demonstrate the ability to create an environment that recognizes and rewards talent.

  • Leverage technology to streamline and improve processes.  Assure that the Region and individual branches are using data to provide the necessary analytics and metrics resulting in efficient execution and high levels of customer service.

  • Provide direction, methodology and analysis for continuous improvement efforts.

  • Build and develop strategic business relationships with both internal and external customers.  Ensure quality, value and exceptional service is being provided to all customers.  Continually assess service acceptance in the marketplace and make the necessary adjustments to provide uninterrupted value when meeting our partners’ evolving demands and needs.

  • Work directly and indirectly with the region sales team to insure a high level of sales force effectiveness.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 10 – 15 years progressive responsibility within the distribution industry in a leadership role

  • Extensive P&L experience

  • Ability to lead change

  • Sales management experience

  • Service management experience

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral

  • Travel as required, successful candidate will spend time at all branch locations

Additional Information

  • Our Client is the distributor for Detroit Diesel, MTU, MTU OE, Allison and Carrier in Montana. 

  • Our Client is also the distributor for other lines in all or part of the territory, including but not limited to Donaldson Filtration, Perkins Engine

  • There are (8) full time sales representatives in the region today.

  • The culture of Our Client is a sales culture.

  • The VP’s Branch Managers and department managers are expected to be fully engaged in sales and business development.

  • Acquisitions of complimentary or adjacent business are regularly brought to the ownership by the VP’s.


  • The BASE Salary will be $104,000.00.  Due to the sales expectations in the Region, the President expects the Bonus Compensation should be between $100-200 K a year.
