Position Summary

Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our team in Tyler, Texas. The Senior Product Engineer will mainly be responsible for the design, development, and launch of new products across the Innovative Tire and Mileage Solutions product line. Additionally, the Senior Product Engineer will focus on continuous improvement of current products.

  • A key role is to be recognized as the ITMS technical expert by supporting the sales teams during customer issues, develop our supplier base to meet the product specifications, and be involved in the manufacturing development process.

  • Concept generation, rapid prototype building, and first-pass testing

  • Detailed design and analysis, including impact on COGS, and validation testing, including preparing test requests, reports and prototype requests as needed.

  • Create new intellectual property for Our Client.

  • Establish product requirements for performance, durability and reliability together with any other customer wants/needs or any continuous improvement ideas.

  • Proficient in implementing changes using APQP process (Concept to Commercialization) procedures in new product development.

  • Perform appropriate/required design analysis to minimize testing requirements and design cycle time.

  • Prepare and maintain design documentation using document control process.

  • Provide training and assistance to sales force.

  • Assist Warranty as needed in detail product analysis and/or customer visits.

  • Project leader in establishing program timing together with members of appropriate teams to ensure adequate product testing and development.

  • Work with manufacturing to resolve Requests for Deviations. Implement root cause and corrective actions whenever possible.

  • Act as mentor to other engineers, associate engineers and drafters, where appropriate, to foster career growth, skills development and training.

  • Report progress to program goals on a regular and programmed basis to communicate risks opportunities and status of each new product program against established milestones.

  • Communicate/Present to customers and suppliers in effort to address any technical question or product change request.

  • Establish program timing together with members of appropriate teams to ensure adequate product testing and development and support of manufacturing engineering and supplier technical staff.

  • Report progress to program goals on a regular and programmed basis to communicate risks, opportunities, and status of each new product program against established milestones.

  • Work with manufacturing to resolve Requests for Deviations. Implement Cause and Corrective actions whenever possible.

  • Additional responsibilities include: supplier relations, frequent customer communication, warranty analysis, and documentation and communication of enacted changes.

  • Collaborating with a team, contributing unique ideas, and influencing the design work of others

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of product design experience

  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks, ANSYS, and GD&T

  • Ability to apply principle of mechanics, materials engineering, and corrosion, among other principles

  • Strong problem solving skills, including root cause analysis

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong Microsoft Office skill

  • Understanding of common engineering materials (e.g. steel and aluminum alloys, plastics, heat treatment, etc..)

  • Design for Assembly and Design for Manufacturing experience Preferred

  • Organized and creative with the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment

  • Six Sigma certification or other formal lean training

  • Basic electronic and PLC design experience

  • Design experience focused on O-rings or gaskets

  • Knowledge of engineered composites or plastics and material joining methods

  • Statistical analysis experience using MiniTab is preferred

  • Strong familiarity with Machine tool processes (mill, lathe, CNC, EDM, drilling, welding)

  • Applying principles of mechanics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, corrosion, heat transfer, materials engineering, airflow and air-sealing technology

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree is required

Compensation

  • Base salary, DOE, will be between $83,000 to $125,000

  • Vacation, paid holidays, 401K (with a company match), health and life insurance
