Client Overview
Our Client has recently sold off a portion of their business and thus their yearly total revenue has dropped to around $50 – $70 Million a year with approximately a total head count of between 90-100 full time employees. This privately owned OEM has been in business for over 100 years and continues to market and sell their products internationally.
Their product is for a niche market that they have worked in for over a century and they continue to grow that market. Theirs is a special product produced with a very high level of quality and due to their stringent manufacturing guidelines their product increases the life of their customers business.
Summary
This position is accountable for the recommendation, implementation and completion of product development projects and market programs to obtain targeted growth in incoming orders and assure continued growth and profitability of product line.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Recommend, develop and pursue long-term growth objectives and plans for the product line and product life cycle offering.
Develop and maintain product strategy and roadmap including identification and recommendation of new products for development and/or private branding.
Coordinate/lead product development process to insure timing of new product introduction and acceptance into market. Recommend and initiate changes or deletions in current products and pricing to maintain and increase sales and profits of product line.
Maintain current and required knowledge of the marketplace and standards and code agencies that may affect product line.
Maintain current and required knowledge of competitive position of products in relation to price, features, performance, gaps and opportunities.
Prepare and publish information for use by field sales programs as appropriate.
Evaluate market performance of product line and recommend adjustments to marketing and/or sales strategies, as appropriate.
Determine, plan and implement marketing elements to achieve growth, margin and market share objectives. Elements include product pricing strategy and programs, penetration/market share growth programs, specification and sales support tools, educational program support, inventory strategy and forecasting.
Identify, develop and lead, as appropriate, training programs.
Oversee overall product quality and resolve inconsistencies or deviations from standard.
Must Be able to manage product incentives utilizing familiarity of engineering, manufacturing, private branding, strategic sourcing, production planning, strategic suppliers/partners as well as sales capabilities, techniques of market research, sales analysis and performance measurement and management.
Must Be able to develop innovations and product strategies through detailed, comprehensive knowledge of products and markets, end-users, contractors, specifying and buying influences, distribution channels and methods of doing business.
Responsible for driving Self-Managed Performance (SMP) program through organization through self-motivation, initiative, and participation.
Required Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor’s Degree
Exceptional Organizational, Verbal, & Written English Communication Skills
Requires strong technical and commercial know-how and capability
Seven years of engineering/marketing and/or Field Sales industry experience.
Preferred Requirements
Field Sales or Manufacturing Experience is a plus
Project Scheduling and Budgeting Experience
MBA preferred
