Director of Marketing
Houston or Dallas Texas
CRT1270

CLIENT OVERVIEW

Our International Client is a deep-tech water company commercializing a non-thermal, solvent-based, liquid-to-liquid platform for concentrating and desalinating hypersaline brines. Their process runs at ambient temperature, needs no air permit, and enhances existing evaporators rather than replacing them.

Our Client currently serves four markets where brine is a cost, a constraint, or a stranded resource: oil and gas produced water (Permian Basin first), mining and minerals, industrial and semiconductor water, and data centers. Their headquarters is in Houston, and they have another office in Dallas.

SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing owns Our Client’s marketing end to end: strategy, budget, and execution across conferences, digital, content, PR, market intelligence, and sales enablement. This is a builder role. You will set direction and personally execute much of it, directing agencies and contractors for PR, web, video, and design, and recommending future hires as the company scales.

You will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work daily with business development leads across North America, industrial, and mining and minerals.

Marketing's job here is concrete: turn a technically complex, category-creating technology into qualified pipeline with operators, mine owners, industrial water buyers, and data center developers. Expect about 25 to 30% travel, concentrated around a 15-event conference calendar that is mostly Domestic with some European events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will lead every part of how Our Client reaches its markets, from planning and budget through events, content, PR, digital, and the tools business development uses to win customers.

Strategy and Planning

  • Own the annual marketing plan and budget; allocate spend by segment (oil and gas, mining and minerals, industrial, data centers) and phase it by month

  • Build the KPI framework that links each program area to pipeline, and report results to leadership quarterly

  • Maintain the ABX™ (Account-Based-Experience) message house and segment value propositions in step with engineering and business development

Events and Field Marketing

  • Run the 15-event conference program: booth, sponsorship, speaking, and attendance plans per event

  • Secure speaking slots and abstracts for executives and technical staff; manage logistics, booth materials, and post-event follow-up

Content, PR and Brand

  • Direct white papers, case studies, video, and LinkedIn thought leadership, keeping every technical and quantitative claim traceable to approved source material

  • Select and manage the PR agency; plan the press release calendar

  • Own brand standards across web, collateral, presentations, and trade-show presence

Digital and Demand Generation

  • Lead the website relaunch with the agency as client-side owner of copy, approvals, and sign-off; then run SEO and AI-search optimization

  • Plan and optimize paid LinkedIn, search, and trade publication campaigns against cost-per-qualified-lead targets

  • Run email nurture and account-based programs for priority target accounts

Sales Enablement and Intelligence

  • Give business development the decks, one-pagers, case studies, and segment playbooks they need to sell

  • Commission and synthesize market, regulatory, and competitive research; track the produced water and industrial discharge landscape

  • Support investor and board materials with market narrative and proof points

Operations

  • Administer the marketing stack (Monday.com, ZoomInfo, Mailchimp, AI tools) and use AI-assisted workflows to do more with a lean team

  • Manage agencies and contractors to defined monthly deliverables; recommend future marketing hires as the company scales

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 8+ years of B2B marketing in water, energy, industrial, or climate technology, including 3+ years leading a function or program

  • Proven ownership of a marketing budget of $500,000 or more, with results reported against defined KPIs

  • Experience marketing a technical product to engineering-led buyers, such as operators, utilities, or industrial plant owners

  • Hands-on command of events, content, PR agency management, paid digital, and website projects

  • Clear, precise writing; comfort translating chemistry and process engineering into business value without overstating claims

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, engineering, or a related field

Preferred

  • Background in water treatment, produced water, mining, or oil and gas services

  • Category-creation experience at a venture-backed hardware or deep-tech company between Series A and C

  • Account-Based Marketing and Sales enablement for long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles

  • Working fluency with AI tools for content, research, and prospecting

  • Familiarity with Texas and Federal water regulation (RRC, TCEQ, EPA)

  • Experience marketing across North America and International Markets

COMPENSATION

  • Open for discussion for the right candidate
